Nine days on black bellied whistling ducks — a South Louisiana specialty season most of the country never gets a shot at.
Black bellied whistling ducks are one of the reasons hunters travel to this part of Louisiana. Long-legged, loud, and utterly committed to a rice field, they hunt like nothing else on the continent.
The whistling duck season runs a separate nine-day split in early October, ahead of the regular duck season. Daily bag limit is four, possession twelve.
This season requires a special permit in Louisiana — it is on you to have it in hand before the hunt. We will point you at the right page and confirm you are covered before you drive out.
